win xp pro office 2002 Novell 4.02?
When I open word or excel, I can't open any of my office files on the network. In open file it sees the network drive, but when I click on it, open file closes. I can, however, open word and excel files by clicking on the file in windows explorer. Saves to network drive fine. I assume its just a matter of a setting change somewhere, but I don't know if this is a office, XP, or novell issue/setting?

Perform the following:
- Download and install the MS02-070 Security Update from Microsoft - Install XP SP1 on your workstation - After rebooting, go to this Registry Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet \Services\LanmanServer\Parameters Change the value in the EnableOplocks to 0.
What anti-virus are you running? Please post back...

1. XP SP1 was already installed. 2. When I try to install the security update I get: WEUpdate cannot retrieve information needed for setup from database. Setup cannot continue. 3. No EnableOplocks option avail in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet \Services\LanmanServer\Parameters 4. No anti-virus programs on this computer that I know of. New install of Win XP Pro on new hardrive.
