Can't install SP3 on Office Pro XP

I have Office Pro XP. I have tried to install the SP3 patch, but it always tells me that files in the installatin temp directory can't be modified because they may have been changed by another program. Any suggestions? Thanks

There are two version of the update. One is a smaller file that utilizes the installation files of your Office program. This file is OfficeXpSp3-kb832671-client-enu.exe.
The other is a larger file that includes all the setup files necessary. This file is OfficeXpSp3-kb832671-fullfile-enu.exe Download and install this one.

I have tried both versions of the update. I have tried each of them from IE and downloaded and install-attempted locally. It never installs.

I have run into this as well, and what I found was that the temporary installation files of Office had been deleted due to my own carelessness. What you need to do if the larger download doesnt work, is to uninstall and then reinstall office. I did this and it now updates as it should.
