I just got office 2003 but when I try to install it,the pc asks for the cd even though the cd is in the drive.
I was however able to install it on another pc without any problems. Both pcs ran on windows xp
What may be the problem?

Hi Phantom.

Make a folder on your desktop and copy the Office 2003 cd to it.

Run the install or setup file from there.

Take care,

Linda

Thanks Linda but before I got your advice I tried the cd on a friends pc but the install was successful.
BUT after the install when I clicked the icons nothing happens. What might the problem be?

btw, office 2003 only works under windows 2000 and windows xp. Just so you know. Also, it requires you to activated it, I am not sure if you have done so.

Seems that I have found a couple of "Aces" in the area of MS Office 2003... maybe you can help me with my problem:

Just installed MS Office 2003 Pro and everything works great except PowerPoint. Will not start up at all... even in safe mode. Have tried a number of suggestions including changing display settings i.e. 16 bit from 32 bit. I have installed new graphic drivers. Uninstalled and reinstalled the entire MS Office program. The internal repair program with Office has even failed to repair the problem - whatever it is.
I am running a Sony laptop with an Pent. III processor at 850.

Any ideas?

Hi Brett.

What OS do you have and how much memory?

Here is a link that tells you what the minimum requirements are.

You need -

Microsoft Windows® 2000 with Service Pack 3 (SP3) or later; or Windows XP or later

128 megabytes (MB) of RAM or above recommended

150 MB of available hard disk space

Hi Brett.

Do you have Photoshop 7 on your system?

I have Photoshop 7 and when I installed Ulead's Media Studio Director's Cut, all I got was a spinning mouse cursor when I double clicked the Director's Cut icon to start the program.

I even emailed Ulead support but couldn't get the program to start up with their suggestions.

Then I downloaded and installed 2 patches for Photoshop 7, not because of any problems with Photoshop, but because I like to keep up to date with patches.

Well after installing the patches for Photoshop, Director's Cut started to work.

I don't know what the patches fixed but apparently, Photoshop caused a problem with Director's Cut which was fixed when I installed the Photoshop patches.

Maybe some other software on your system needs a patch to make PowerPoint work.

Take care,

Linda
