I'm diligent about backing up my files every month and have Outlook.pst on CD for the past few months as well.So the computer crashed and I've reinstalled everything on my new hard drive. Outlook can't find a .pst, doesn't want to make a new one, and won't let me open the read-only ones on my CD. The read-only .pst will not copy to my hard drive (error: parameter is incorrect) and the read-only box will not stay unchecked (error: access is denied)
So I'm content with using my Pocket PC's data instead of the backed-up .psts (though I'd love to get that going), HOWEVER, Outlook won't create a new .pst for me. I've uninstalled it and reinstalled it about 3-4 times and it still won't open, prompting me to look for the .pst!
Help! Thanks!

What are the permissions on the folder where you're attempting to copy the pst (the one from the CD)? Try copying to another folder (one which you have full control) and then removing the Read-Only Attribute.
Have you done a search on your Pocket PC? The pst may be a hidden system file, and you'll have to know the exact location in order for Outlook to "find" the one that's already been created.

In Outlook you could try going to the File menu, selecting Import/Export. Then select "import from another program or file". In the next box which asks select file type to import from, choose "Personal Folder File (.pst file)", click next, and for the top box click on the "browse" button to the right of it and direct it to the drive where your backups are located. Check the boxes below as appropriate.
Hope this will work for you....
