Microsoft Office Word 2003 updated version

I am typing my resume using a Microsoft template. I have changed borders and font and got it to where it looks good on one page. I would like to e-mail it to companies.

The issue I’m having is that when I print it, and when my future employers print it, it wants to print a blank page, and this doesn’t look good.

I have tried to go to page 2 which is blank and press the backspace arrow as to delete the second page. I have tried to press the delete button on the second page. I can manage to highlight a blank space about 2 space wide at the top of page two – I’ve tried to delete it, cut it, and back space it. I also tried to copy the entire resume to an new document page, but the blank page 2 follows me. NOTHING HAS WORKED.

Does any one know how I can get this blank page 2 out of my resume?

Thank you for you time and support.

Your page is too long. (The body of text is too long.) Assuming a formatted document will appear as sent is a bad practice. You are assuming that the recipient has the same printer and fonts that you do. If you want it to appear the same sent a PDF file. That was why Adobe Acrobat was developed.

As another point of information. Many organizations do not accept resumes as formatted documents. Viruses and other malware can be embedded in Word documents. I know of firms that routinely discard all attachments from unauthorized senders. When my niece was applying for a job she was instructed to send a plain text message with the c.v. included in the message. No attachments.

c.v. curriculum vitae is a fancy name for resume.

What is wanted is the resume information in the email in the form of a plain text message. No fancy formatting, no font changes, no html code.

What finally worked:

I clicked and dragged highlighted only the first page careful not to go onto the second page, copy, paste to a new document, and presto

-- no more second page.

When I tried to hilight everything using the select all function it hilighted a box on page 2 that I didn't want.

The only was is click and drag, copy, new document window, paste.

thx for your help

I’m having this same issue with a document, except that I tried copying all but the last page and pasting it into a new document, and that didn’t work. The document has headers and footers, and so it put a header and footer on the blank page. Word won’t let me delete the page while it has a header and footer, but when I remove the header and footer from the blank page, they are removed from the entire document. Once the header is gone, the extra page goes away, but when I put the header back in the rest of the document, the extra page comes back. I created a new section for the blank page, so that I could delete the header and footer from it, without affecting the rest of the document. That allowed me to take off the header and footer from the blank page, but I still can’t delete the page. The section break is continuous, so it shouldn’t be creating a new page. There is a table at the end of the last page, and the section break is between the table and the footer, and I can’t select it to delete it, it selects either the table or the footer instead. Anyone know what to do?

Here's what worked for me.
I went to the file menu in Word and clicked page setup. I chose the margin tab and changed the margin for the page bottom. (to give me more space on the page. It actually didn't work until I tried it about 3 times and bingo the extra page disappered. This was a particularly fussy page.
Usually, I just click/drag across the extra page starting at the top left corner moving across and down to select all..then I hit delete.
Someone else told me it has to do with the paragraph sign thing. Just find and click that paragraph thingy so that all are displayed then delete the ones on the extra page.
I'm no expert but I hope this helps

Ciao for now!
