Comment:

I want to put Supercalc on my win98 box, but have lost the original installation disks. When I put all the files from my win3.1 system (works ok here, but how long will the box/hdd last?) on the win98 box, I get a message about an invalid DLL call. I suspect a file created at original installation (SCWLOGO$.DAT) is coded to the original system, but I cant decode it? Any suggestions? (Supercalc for Windows does things that Excel can't.) Same problem on XP.

Just copy files from one computer to another using the same OS is fraught will problem let alone from one version of Window to another.

Invalid DLL call means that it is looking for a DLL file that will be in the Windows\System folder. This might be an original Windows 3.1 file or or could be a DLL installed with the original install disk.

You need to find out which DLL it is. Copy it to the windows 98 system folder. Register it with RegSvr32 then try again. You will probably get the same error agin till you have found all the DLL files that the application requires, which could be many.

What can Supercalac do that Excel cant?

Stuart
