Hi;
I submitted a post in August last year (http://www.computing.net/office/wwwboard/forum/6064.html)
related to a list I want bulleted being pushed down two spaces. Jennifer SUMN kindly responded with an answer that seemed to work at the time. But here is a variation of the same problem:
I want to have more space between each bulleted line,...so I use a hard return. When I try to bullet those lines, I get a bullet in the vacant line. When I remove the bullet it pushes the next line a further 2 spaces down.
I hope that makes sense. ThanksPat

If you hold the Shift key when pressing enter, the next line down will not be bulleted.

Thanks Jennifer,....but I don't think I explained this too well. Here is what happens:
I do a bulleted list:
-blah
-blah
-blahThen I decide to put more space between each one so I hard return at the end of each line:
-blah
-
-blah
-
-blah
and of course it puts a bullet in each space.
I then place my cursor on the blank line, and remove the bullet, and it pushes the line further down and looks like this:
-blah-blah
-blah.(and there's not really a line between the "blahs",......in other words you can't place your cursor between the lines,....it's like it's quadruple spaced.
Does that make sense?
Pat

Did you hold down the shift key while pressing Enter?

OK,...OK,...I admit I didn't,...and just tried it,....and IT WORKS!! Thanks. The broader question for me though,.....why does it push the lines down. This doesn't usually happen at work,...but I just responded to an e-mail that was sent to me,....and it did the same thing.
Is it simply a poltergeist,....or a ste-up thing that I can change?Thanks again!
