Hi,
I would like to create in Outlook Express an automatic answer to incoming mails notifying people writing to me that I'm absent from the office or so. How to create such an automatic reply to incoming mails containing certain message prepared by myself before leaving office?

Hi,
I am using Outlook Express 6.0 and I cannot find there this "Out of Office Assistant" option the Tools menu.
Does it mean I have to upgrade my Outlook? :-(
Any help welcome!

Set up a suitable reply and "Save as " a .eml file. Under Tools/Message Rules/Mail, set up a new rule, enter in the 3 boxes:
1. "For all messages" 2. "Reply with message" 3. Click underlined "message" and select the message you saved.
Name the rule, and enable it. Try it first by sending yourself a mail message. Remember to turn it off when you return!

I just tried - it works O.K.
Just one question: now my automatic reply is given as an attachement that the sender must open. Is there any method to answer in some more "explicite" way, no as attached file?

I posted a reply, but it's disappeared into the "ether". No there's not - it's not perfect, I know, but it's the only way in OE.
