There is no specific formula for updating a date based on a change in a cell.

Please provide some more details regarding what you are trying to do.

there are two things I am trying to do. 1 is to make it so my date updates after updating anything in that row. so it shows what day the information in that row
is updated.

second thing is. I'm using =max() to find the highest figure in a column.
But I also want the name of the person that has that highest
stat in that column in a new row right above the corresponding number in
that column.
If you want to look at what I have done and see what I am working with let me know ill give you the site.

To auto-update the Date you need to use a Worksheet_Change event macro which will fire whenever there is a change to the worksheet.

Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)
 If Target.Row > 5 Then
   Application.EnableEvents = False
    Range("A" & Target.Row) = Date
   Application.EnableEvents = True
 End If
End Sub

As far as the MAX function, I don't see where you are using it.

I don't know if this is what you want, but if you put this in C5 it will return StxSoul since that is the name associated with the name in Column B that is in the same row as the MAX value in Column C (62)

=INDEX($B$6:$B$12,MATCH(MAX(C6:C12),C6:C12,0),1)

Drag it over to D5 and it will return OrinVerido since that name corresponds to 46, the MAX value in Column D.

Thank you so much. I still can't get the auto date to work. but I Like the =index you gave me and it works great.

What happens when you try to use the event macro?

Just telling us that you can't "get it to work" doesn't give us much info to work with.

Do you know how to use an event macro?
