Comment:
I am preparing a costing sheet in excel 2000 where I must show an amount both in number and word i.e. 2,500/- (two thousand and five hundred and 00 only)
Is there any formula in excel that can perform this task automatically.

Excel does not have that function built in but you could create a macro to do it or download and install ASAP Utilities and you will then find that function under Numbers, Convert Numbers to Words. However, it converts it not exactly as you wanted. 1250.63 converts to One Thousand Two Hundred Fifty Dollars and Sixty Three Cents
ASAP Utilities is worth having for that and it's other 300 or so functions not already built into Excel.
I installed mine to load as a default with Excel. It adds a second or two to the loading time.
