If I install Ad-ware, could I accidentally remove any important information that I might need? If anybody has any important information about Ad-ware would be helpful! Thanks!

Ad-Aware searches your computer for any Spyware that may be installed. Many 'free' downloads are actually Spyware, such as Kazaa. Once the spyware components are removed, the host software will no longer work. Many sites that offer these 'free' downloads do ~not~ disclose that the programs are Spyware. Spyware can also be found on inexpensive store-bought software collections.

In addition to the privacy/disclosure/honesty issues, having an instance or two of Spyware constantly running in the background can bring your computer to a crawl and cause other problems.

Now for the good news:

For nearly every Spyware program there is an equally capable true Freeware program.

Quality download sites, such as NoNags, Only Freeware, Freeware Home, and Son of Spy Freeware do ~not~ distribute spyware.

Ad-Aware will not delete anything useful from your computer.

Best Luck,
Bob
