Comment:

I loaded office xp with outlook 2002. I filled Contacts up with the contacts from my palm. However, none are accessible from the Email address book. I've tried a number of things:

I went to address book/tools/options. There is nothing there. Everything is blank.

I went to view/folder list, right-clicked on the Contacts folder/Properties/outlook address book and "name of address book" isn't available to click.

Then, I went to email accounts and tried to add a new directory, (personal address book and outlook address book) and I get the message "The account you have is not fully configured. It will not work properly until it is re-configured correctly."

I'm vexed. I would really appreciate any help you can give me.

Thanks!

Reply:

1. Remove the Outlook Address Book and Personal Address Book if you have it configured.
2. Close Outlook
3. Reopen Outlook
4. Readd the Outlook Address Book
5. Close Outlook
6. Reopen Outlook
7. Right click on Contacts
8. Properties
9. Click Outlook Address Book
10. Select "Show Contacts as an Outlook Address Book.

Voila.

OK, I've tried that, but there are no directories there to remove. Am I missing something? Thanks.

I also have the same problem, however what exactly do you mean by read the outlook address book? If you mean to put a tick in the "show this folder as email address book" I cannot as it is greyed out! Your help would be most welcome as this is frustrating and reinstalling doesn't help. I have outlook 2003. cheers

yep, Warlodia, seems like we're in the same spot. There's nothing to re-add -- can't check the box, I tried to type the name in, nothing works. Is there somewhere else to look for this address book?

To Re-add the Outlook Address Book

Then Add Outlook Address Book

Continue with Step 5

I've tried that but I got the following message:

The account you have is not fully configured. It may not work properly until reconfigured correctly.

K. Obvious question. Are you positive that the email account is indeed configured properly and fully?

No, not at all. How would I determine that? I had some trouble loading it, but email seems to work fine. It's just the address book.

You're being really helpful, and I'm really sorry, but I don't know how to do either of those things -- find the account configuration or email a screen print.

I'm not looking at your version, so forgive me..

If the configuration for your account shows after viewing the existing account, press the Print Screen Key. If you need to go into a Properties tab to see the server information, do that.

Open Word and do a Ctrl-V
Save that document and email it to me.
