Wanted to check if anyone had any experience with Acronis Image 11 - does it really work? My hard drive sounds like it will be failing in the near future and I would like to copy it without all the time consuming re-installations. Also, what if you get a new motherboard? Ideally, I would like to get a new hard drive and motherboard, use my current hard drive to boot-up Windows and use a new HD as the slave drive, copy the information on to the new HD, then switch the new HD to be the Master and use the old HD as a back-up. Will this work? Thanks!

Acronis True Image is about as good as it gets. I've been using True Image for years.
Acronis TI is available now for about $25....
I paid more when I bought it!----------

I've just been informed that this is an even better deal from Newegg.

I'm not familiar with Disk Director so can't attest to the value of that product.

Awesome, thanks, Cuffy! BTW - are you aware of any step-by-step guides online that walk you through specifically coying a hard drive?

Another update...........
Acronis TI 11 download version available for $9.99 by using promotion code.

Hello Cuffy, question - the majority of the tutorials explain how to copy external back-up devices, partitions of hard drives, etc. What I would like to do is copy my entire hard drive which boots up my PC. I assume from you answer that can be done, however I read that a tib file is created on the new HD. Is that I step I need to change or just go through with it? Thanks!

Have you already purchased Acronis TI?
What you want to do can easily be accomplished with XXClone, a freebie.
XXClone will copy C: to D:, using Cool tools you make D: bootable, swap out the drives and D: become C:, your boot drive.
Using Acronis TI to clone the drive you use Disk Utilities, Clone ..........
It does basicly the same thing as XXClone.
No .tib file is created in cloning.
C: is copied to D: (new drive) bit by bit.-----

I found a program called copy commander 9, just cloned my hard drive, works great so far. Thanks again for all your help, will try acronis the next time!

According to Acronis True Image Home I can say that it really works. You can backup running system without any problems and restore the image within minutes using Acronis bootable disc. Recently I came across they offer free, yes free Acronis True Image 8.0 which can be upgraded to full version of Acronis True Image Home 2009 just for $29.99. As for me I hesitated some time but finally purchased upgrade after I have found an article on http://windowssecrets.com/2008/10/1... telling about this web site. I used serial number for Acronis True Image 8.0 along with serial number for upgrade version and to my relief Acronis True Image Home 2009 was installed as advertised.
