Folks....
Using a Macro in MS ACCESSS to create a report....Works GREAT!
You can also create a Shortcut to that Macro so on your desktop....there is an icon..you just click it and a new report is generated....works GREAT!
However....when the shortcut is clicked (and the macro is run....which generates the report)....Access will Pop open as will the report that was created. So there a 2 windows there open on the screen.
Well...the report that is run is set to OUTPUT TO an MS Word file (which will be used later). It is important that it ONLY create the report file and NOT open it up. Having an open file window on the screen causes a problem with another program.
That one little detail messes up the entire process.
Does anyone know if there is a way to run an Access macro (via a shortcut) and suppress the program and file opening (or remaining open)?
THANKS

Jen....
Thanks very much.
I created the shortcut from within Access....by right clicking on the macro and then selecting "create shortcut"
It does create an actual shortcut and places it where I specifiy....but I can't seem to get to its command line. It does not seem to point to a bat or exe file anywhere.....kinda odd.
Therefore....I'm having a hard time finding a file to edit (in order to add the "Close Object/Close Database/Close Access" switches)
The only place that there appears to be something to edit is within Access at the Macro itself.
Do I need to create my own .bat file which, with one of its command lines, runs the shortcut created by Access? If so....I suppose that's where I could add the those addition switches.
(hope this makes sense)
Thanks very much for the feedback.

Jen......
Disregard the above post.....I misread the issue about where those other settings go.
I did actually add aditional specs to the macro itself via Access. Things seem to work fine now.
Thanks very much for your feedback....it has made a huge difference.
