Hi All,
I’ve upgraded to “MSOffice 2000” and ACCESS 2000 will not allow me to use my current printer. After converting the database, I get the following error message:
“There was a problem retrieving printer information for the HP OFFICEJET series 700 print on DOT4_001. The object may have been sent to a printer that is unavailable.”
The original printer a HP DeskJet 340 and it needs to be replaced with HP OfficeJet 720c All-In-One printer.
My question is “How do I reset ACCESS 2000 to accept the new printer” ? ? ? ? ?

Is this a local printer? I'm guessing it isn't. Have you indeed removed the old printer and added the new one within your Printer folder?

My guess is the USB driver for your printer is not network friendly. Multifunction devices frequently don't work as network devices. Some functions are not shareable, scanning for one.

Hi Jennifer and Wizard,
Yes to Jennifer, I trashed my old HPDeskjet 340 and replaced it with HP OfficeJet 720c all in one Fax / Printer but it is not recognised by ACCESS.
And to Wizard, I am not using USB, I am using parallel to printer (IEEE1284) cable and the printer works fine ! ! !
Forever grateful for any help.

I don't know what you're trying to print...Form, Report, etc., but there is an option in the Properties within those objects where you set the default printer. Sounds like that's what you need to do...change that entry to the correct printer.

Sorry, but from the error message [..DOT4_001..] I assumed it had an error from a usb port.
