3gb switch

my IT person was able to change the boot file to include a 3gb switch for my computer with an windows xp professional os.

he could not do the same for another of my computers having a windows xp media center os.

any ideas how the boot file can be re-written?

Don't try adding the /3GB switch to boot.ini for WMCE. The /3GB switch is supported only in Windows XP Pro & Windows Server 2003.

but the question remains, how to do a 3gb switch for xp media center

I believe he said it is not supported meaning that you do not do a 3G switch for xp media center as you have already seen as it simply does not work.
