Solved 24 hour time format, only zeros appear when data entered

June 12, 2012 at 10:41:22
Specs: Windows XP
24 hour format, only zeros appear when data entered. I want to enter an arrival time in a spreadsheet. The cell is formatted to Time, 24-hour (HH:mm:ss). No matter what is entered the only thing that shows up is 00:00:00

Text will go in but I need to enter a time, hence the format selection.

✔ Best Answer
How are you entering the Time?

You MUST use a colon.

So 1200 will not work

but 12:00 will

I can't believe that was the problem, and yet, your solution works. The whole point of using the 24 hour clock is that there are not supposed to be any punctuation marks! Arrgh.... Anyway, thank you very much for your help. It's greatly appreciated.

Not in my experience.

If you really really really must have the data input without the colon then
a work around is a Custom Format:

Try this: 0\:00

BUT, BE WARNED the data you enter is NOT a Time entry, it will
display as time, but it is only a number and you can not do Time calculations.
