I have a problem with Word 97, in that when I save a file the file is saved successfully but a second file is generated with the same name - apart from the first two characters which have been made into $$ signs. I know of two other people who have experienced the same problem, but I have been unable to find the solution on the net but if anyone happens to know the answer please let me know.

Many thanks

DaveB

Click on the TOOLS tab at the top and then click on OPTIONS. Click on the SAVE tab. UNCHECK the "Always create backup copy".

This will stop the 2nd file.
