Thanks for the reply Phil22, I got all excited for a minute, but still no joy. Not sure if you thought I didn't have wi-fi working, but that isn't the problem. The BT Infinity Hub (fibre optics to the cabinet one) plugs into a router and I tried connecting via ethernet cable to both without result, still no set up page from http://192.168.1.2 either with wi-fi off or with wi-fi on in the "Currently connected to:" window.
You may have been given the wrong IP number for the Home Hub Manager. It's better to use the "friendly" address by name to avoid that: Try this in the address bar if you are on BT Broadband with a Home Hub:
http://bthomehub.home/(Or just click on the link above)
If it works, save it as a bookmark so you can easily access the hub manager in future.
Call the bookmark BT Home Hub Manager
