I would imagine that this, or something similar, has been posted on here before, so I apologise if it has.

I have two computers that I'm trying to network, one with 98 SE and one with XP. The XP comp has an adsl modem connected to it via usb port. I already had the computers networked and sharing the adsl connection with no problems at all, after using the XP setup disk on both comps, but my 98 OS rolled back the registry a week or two ago, and suddenly i can't reconnect the computers. All cables work, all network cards work, i have used the XP disk many times and tried to set them up manually too, but i just cannot seem to get them networked again.

Can someone please give me step-by step instructions for setting up a shared internet xp-98se because I'm at a total loss. I have done exactly what I believe to be the correct setup method but it just will not work.

The 98 comp connects to the xp comp, which is directly connected to the modem. The 98 comp is not directly connected to the modem.

Thankyou

Here's something to try on the XP computer if it's a bridge issue.

Start -> Control Panel -> Network Connections -> Network Bridge. Uncheck any boxes under the Adapter section in the Network Bridge properties, then reboot.

I had the same problem with my wireless network and this is what worked for me.
