I have setup a home network, Win2003 server, Win2000 DHCP, and 2 XP pro clients on the LAN, and one XP pro not on the LAN.
The server has 2 NICs, 192.168.1.104 is the ip address to the NIC that is connected to the internet, and the NIC connected to the private LAN is using 192.168.11.11
on the linksys router i have tcp port 1723 and udp port 500 going to 192.168.1.104.
I create a vpn connection from the xp pro computer not connected to the lan, sending the connection to point to the ip address provided by my isp (ex: 71.77.22.111), i get connected, but see no folder that are shared!!!
The DHCP is giving the vpn connection a valid ip address from the scope, but why can i not see a simple shared folder i created on the servers desktop?

desktops are user specific. don't place a share there or you can't access it without special rights tweeking/same acct as on the xp with same password. Place your share off the root like c:\share then give "everyone" access rights. As long as you logon to the xp station with an account that exists on the server you will then see the share
