I just purchased two new Dell machines with Windows XP Pro installed. I now have a 30 - 40 second delay when I first load Excel or Word. These office progams are mapped to a network share on my Windows 2000 file server. This only happens the first the programs is loaded for the day and does not happen at all on the other 95, 98, and me machines. It does not bug me but it does bother the users of the computer. Any ideas or suggestions in getting rid of the delay? Thanks in advance!

Try reading this article try the registry changes. I was having the same problem and after I made the changes my network access speed improved.
