This is an update to "713P Win 98 WinXP Home problems". I installed NetBUEI on XP Home and turned off the firewall on the desktop. When I go to "My Network Places" on the laptop I can see the shared files on my desktop. I can transfer to my desktop. COOL!! However when I open up "Network Neighborhood" on the desktop (Win 98)I don't see the laptop. I do see "Entire Network". When I click on "Entire Network" I get a message "Unable to browse the Network" "Network is not accessable..." Any suggestions or direction... Thanks for the help ... Michael

I had the same problem b4,you have to create user accounts for the win 98 machine on the XP Laptop. Use the exact same username/password used to log onto the win 98 machines.

XP Home uses simplified sharing - so user accounts shouldn't be an issue.
Have you shared any resources on the XP machine (there will be some default admin shares, such as C$ for C: drive - these don't count - you need to explicitly share a drive, folder or printer to make XP machine visible to the network).

There are all kinds of reasons why a system might not work. In this case the reason why Win 98 could not see XP Home was because I did not sign in properly. When I first turned the computer on I got a screen that asks for the password to the Network. I did not read the message and het the Esc key. Once I hit enter the Network operated properly. The other thing that I did was to install NetBUEI onto XP Home. I hope this helps someone else. Thanks all.
Summary: I have 3 computers on my home network(winXPpro, win2000pro, win98se). Everythings good except that win98 doesn't allow me to look at the shared folder of win2000 (it asks for a password). Yet my winXP...
