We recently installed a Windows server 2003. We have approximately 30 pcs (6-win2k, 22-win98 and 2 xp pro)attaching to the domain. One of the XP pro pcs logs on to the domain, other windows 2000 pcs can access the it, but the 98 pcs and the other xp pro pc cannot. The same xp pro cannot access the 98 pcs. As stated above, the xp pro logs on to the domain, but it will lose connection through out the day. We will do a restart, and log on again, this usually works for a while. In the event viewer it states it cannot find the domain controller and also an autoenrollment error - cannot add this pc to the active directory.

first check the DNS configuration on the XP pro machine thats having the issue. sounds to me like it doesnt have the right DNS server address and cant find the appropriate srv record to find the DC. so it broadcasts. now , if it still cant add itself to the domain, then remove any reference to it in active directory {delete the computer account from active directory users & computers}. now have the XP machine join a generic work group { like woohoo or something} then rejoin it to the domain with a domain admin account. good luck AJ
