I keep getting the following 2 errors in my XP the event log when I logon to a 2000 domain.
NETLOGON 5719
"No Domain Controller is available for domain HOTEL due to the following:
There are currently no logon servers available to service the logon request. .
Make sure that the computer is connected to the network and try again. If the problem persists, please contact your domain administrator."USERENV 1054
"Windows cannot obtain the domain controller name for your computer network. (The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted. ). Group Policy processing aborted."I can ping the domain controller and dns server. I use network resources such as file sharing and printers. I can log on to the domain just fine, the problem is group policy does not update at startup. The only way I can do it is by using GPUPDATE at the command prompt. When I do IPCONFIG the DNS and DHCP servers are correct and my IP address matches the one on the DHCP server. I know it is a problem with the XP box because other 2000 boxs on the network work just fine. Any information on this problem will be appriciated.

I figured out my problem. Reinstalling the OS fixed the errors, at least for a moment. Everything worked as it should with group policy updating until I installed all the latest windows updates. After restarting from the updates I check the event log and the same errors were back. The installations CD has SP1 integrated so it must be one of about 8 updates. Tomorrow I will pin point the problem and let everyone know the outcome.

Jeremy
Have you fixed this problem? We are also having this problem - all xp machines on the 2000 domain will not log on though all older o/s work fine - we have had to temporarily set up all machines on a workgroup as we just cannot get them to log on to the 2000 domain. Does not seem to be a problem logging on to a NT 4 domain for xp machines. Is there anything you have worked out which will mean we do not have to rebuild all machines?
Thanks!!
