Hi
I hope someone can help as this is causing me all sorts of headaches.
I am running Windows XP Pro on a workstation PC which is connecting to a Windows 2000 Server (PDC) over a WAN. The remote workstation is connected directly to a LAN router via a NIC and dials Head office over a standard ISDN 2e into a Perle RAS Server.
The remote site is using an LAN IP address of 195.168.1.X with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0. The common WAN IP address is 200.10.20.X again with a class C subnet mask. The Head office is running a 10.0.0.X IP address range, and again is masked all the way up.
I can ping all TCP addresses, so I do not believe that there’s a routing issue with TCP, I could be wrong though.
From what I can see, my logon credentials are being authenticated by the PDC correctly, although it is possible that I may be logged on using cached credentials even though I am not receiving a notification message. My real problem happens when I attempt to browse any of the shared folders on the server, I get prompted to enter my username and password. If I enter my original username and password I receive an error stating that they have already been tried. If I then enter an alternative set of credentials I am granted permission.
Does anybody have any idea how to overcome a routing issue like this??
