Hi all;
I have three computers running WinXP Home on my LAN. I have enabled file sharing on certain folders on each machine. Once enabled, all three computers can see each other and pass files to/from each other. The problem is after a reboot, the previously shared folders no longer have sharing enabled. I have to go to the folder properties, select "Sharing and Security" and manually re-check the "Share this folder on the network" option. Then it works fine until a reboot. I have gone through the network setup wizard many times and I have all the latest patches, etc. I have also tried using the NetBEUI and IPX/SPX protocols, but the problem still remains.
Any suggestions are appreciated....
Max
Has anyone experienced this problem before or know of a solution?
In addition to TCP/IP, I have NetBEUI installed for file sharing

Hi Max,
Are you running NetBIOS over IP? If so, then it may be that your XP hosts are configured for DHCP by default and don't have an IP address assigned to them until you rerun the network setup wizard... just a guess!
Try assigning a static IP address to each machine ( say 192.168.0.xx where xx is from 2..254 with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 ).
Let us know how you get on, Regards, James.

Yes, that was it. I assigned an IP address to each machine and that took care of it. Thanks!
