I came back from Christmas holidays and brought my computer back to residence but I can no longer see the other two computers on the network. The weird thing is that they can see me but it tells them that my computer is not accessible or may be removed from the network.
We are all connected to a Linksys 8 port router and are sharing cable internet. We are all XP machines and are using automatic IP configuration.
File sharing is installed as well as TCP/IP and IPX.
I've tried uninstalling and installing my Sis 900 based ethernet card but nothing.
It seems to get it's automatic IP from the router no problem, but I can't see anyone buy myself and I have no internet either.
My subnet is the same as everyone elses 255.255.255.0 and everything else looks normal.
I've used ipconfig and released and renewed my ip, it renews fine but that doesn't help.
The only thing that I can say that looks odd is that the physical address in the network details is all F's for the hex address. That seems weird.

I would appreciate any help, thanks a lot.
Chris

I aslo have encountered this problem however my problem after I uninstalled Go-Back. My network completely disappeared on my main computer. I can see the "main" computer from my other XP and Win 98 boxes. Plus I can surf from each of the three. Even more strange is that I can run the VNC program from each and connect via the local intranet.

Any help?

Thanks

Rick

If all computers on the network are XP, there is no reason to have IPX installed. The fewer the protocalls messing around on the network the better...

The all f's address could suggest the NIC is bad...is this an integrated NIC? if not you might try swapping the nic with another machine and see if the issue goes away altogether or follows the nic to the other machine.
