If you link two xbox together, you use a cross over cable. I am not sure how to assign an ip in a xbox. If you can assign an ip to each box, then you don't need dhcp server. If its default it to obtain ip from a dhcp server, then you might have to look into setting up a dhcp server to handle ips for these boxes.
