Ok, so I bought an X5 ADSL Modem/Router. I have no problem connecting to the internet w/my desktop (modem/router plugged into desktop). Laptop (Sony VAIO w/Intel Celeron) can't connect to wireless network.
Keep getting "Network connection not available;" it worked just fine with my Speedstream modem and Linksys WRT54G router!
Anyone out there successfully configured a home network w/the X5?
Any advice appreciated...both desktop and laptop are set to "obtain IP address automatically" and same for DNS.
I have enabled NetBuei (?sp) and all that good stuff. I have enabled DHCP.
HELP!
Much appreciated!

Hi since u were previously using wireless, i suggest u delete any previous wireless connection on ur laptop.
Create a new one, keeping in mind ssid etc.
disable all encryption.restart the zero config service in xp services.
hope u have selected the button on the laptop 2 be on 2 scan for wireless n/ws . i know sony vaio have this button.silly 2 tell u but yes i was struggling for a couple of minutes b4 i realised the fool of it!

check an ipconfig/all at command prompt to see ipaddr of laptop, etc.

hope this helps.

No dice :^( Vaio won't let me delete the old connection, and when I try to set up a new connection, it says I already have one!
So I went back to modem and router.
But seriously, if anyone has ever configured the X5, please e-mail me!
THANKS anyway!
