I'm using a Linksys WRT54G V3.0 router, and connecting to the network through a D-Link Wireless-G adapter. Recently, my internet has been going somewhat slower than usual. I also experience short periods of no internet connectivity every 10 or so minutes , which disconnect me from any online game that I'm playing. When I encountered this problem in the past, I could simply unplug the power cord for a few minutes and plug it back in. However, this doesn't work anymore.

I don't know much about routers or networking in general, so any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Do you have cable or dsl? If so, check to make sure your service is not being interrupted from your ISP by looking at the connectivity lights on the modem. Post back if everything there appears normal.

You mentioned unplugging the router to clear it, then plugging it back in to make it work. Did you also do the same with the modem? Specifically, unplug the modem, and router, then plug the modem back in, let it boot up completely, then plug the router back in.

Also, when you were playing your games, were you on a wired connection? or wireless? If you were on wireless, or are experiencing trouble with the wireless, I would suggest changing the channel that the wireless is operating on and trying it out.

Post back with your results.

I followed your instructions, and my internet speed seems to have increased a bit. However, I haven't had time to test it on games, so I'll most likely post back with those results later today.

Thanks

Ok, I'm still having the same problems whenever I play games. Any suggestions?

To be honest I am out of suggestions. I would think with High speed internet, a good ping, and an established connection you shouldnt have these issues. Just for kicks, have you checked to see if there are updates for the games your playing?

Nope, they're all fully up to date. I'm going to have to determine whether the router and/or the cable modem is the problem by hooking up my modem directly to my computer. If everything runs fine with that, I'll likely buy a gaming-router or something.

Thanks for helping, I greatly appreciate it.
