Comment:

OK, (new to networking), I set up a LAN with two XPpro PCs. Used a Crossover cable and both are connected at 100mbps.I also ran the Xp Networking Wizard on both PCs....set on as a PC using the internet connection and the other(PC2) using the LAN to access the others DSL.

Now my Problem:
When I go to "View Workgroup Computers" in "My Network Places" it shows the two networked PCs. (PC1 icon and PC2 icon, as I named them. The Workgroup is called "HOME".)

I'm using PC1, when I try to click on PC2 it says: (And vice versa using PC2)

"you dont have the appropriate access right for this server. For more information, contact your network administrator" (Which is me!)

How do I enable these access rights?

PS. File share isn't working, I think solving this will fix it. Also, Internet Sharing doesn't work, but it did when I first created the LAN.........

Hi there,
If I remember rightly, once you've run the network setup program on both PC's, you should do the following on BOTH PC's:
Go in to the Start Menu > Connect to > View All Connections, and right click on the icon that says Local Area Connection 1, (or what ever you've named it)
From the right-click menu, select Properties and check the box labelled File & Printer Sharing.
When you've done this make sure you go to My Computer on EACH PC and right-click the Drives and Folders you want to share, close all screens, reboot both PC's. That should do it!
Keep us posted!
Dave

See the other post by Same Nick "DingChavez."

Or on the search box on top of this page type: "Unique Message Number: 21153" without the quotation marks.
