Hi everyone
I have a home network based around a wireless ADSL modem router (Safecom SWAMR-54108) which works perfectly for 3 other pcs. However i have recently received a new laptop from work which will not communicate.
It recognises the network and says it is connected but no packets are received, only sent. I at first thought it was a problem with a proxy server like i have had in the past with work machines but in those cases i could still ping out and use other web based apps. This time nothing works, no ping, no internet and my router does not see the laptop.
I think it has something to do with the fact that my work laptop's IP is manually configured and my router is trying to use DHCP. I've tried changing options in the router but to no avail and to be honest I'm reaching the end of my knowledge!
The weird thing is that when i hardwire the laptop into the router it is assigned a new IP 192.168.1.* (like the other machines on the network) and works perfectly.
If anyone has any suggestions for a solution or a workaround i would be very gratefull. I'm about out of ideas and no-one else seems to have the same problem.
Thanks in advance guys
Rich

try on an other wifi network, if it still doesn't work, try to reinstall the OS, and if it still doesn't work it means laptop has a hardware problem :/

Why not make it auto assign a ip?
ok, its connected it sending data, but it not receaving data.
tryed unistalling the drivers using device maneger?
updating the drivers?
using the software that came with safecom. safecom (ebuyer)
Check your mac adresses again.
cmd type "ipcinfig /all" see what u get

I can't be reinstalling windows on a work PC and it's a fresh install anyway.
How do you cange the settingd to automatically assign an IP? I can't find a setting for it anywhere. I think that option may have been disabled by the network tech at work.
Also what do you mean by "check" my mac addresses. What exactly am i looking to check about them?
Thanks alot for your help guys, I'll keep trying
