I'll try and make this as short as possible.
I have 3 PC's networked with a D-Link DI-704P 4 port cable/DSL router. This router also has a printer port built in (parallel, not USB). My connection speed is cable, usually about 300-500K.
My PC has Win2k Pro installed, and the other two have Win98 SE, all are updated. The network works fine, internet is blazing when all are on at the same time. My problem is this: When i'm online gaming on Battlefield 1942 or UT 2003, nobody on the network can print. However, when i exit the game, printing is now possible on the network. I'm at a lost for words here, because everything seems to be set up correctly. It will print when i'm not gaming, but the second i get online and play, the printer will not print. It's almost as if there is not enough bandwith to handle the job. I have looked at user reviews on various sites regarding this router, and have found no problems like this. This is a bit frustrating, because i have to quit my game every time someone wants to print. So i guess my question is this: Why is this happening, is my router not capable of handling this job?? Is my printer not good enough (HP Deskjet 812C)?? Or is it the fault of my network?? Any help or suggestions would be great. Thanks

On your router, is there a selection to enable printer or to enable that printer port on the router, as it sounds like it should act as a network printer, but somehow the connection is not reaching it.
Also, your network protocol must allow and be set-up to do that.
Also, I wonder if there is any port mapping or port forwarding involved here.
Not too familier with that router, but the company can advise you better.
