okay so I have a linksys card(i think its called WPC55AG or something like that) and at random times, the wireless internet signal just shuts down randomly. Sometimes it will come back up in a few short moments, but now it wont come back even after 2 restarts. This really makes me angry when it does this. It sometimes happens several times a day. help would be greatly appreciated.

What version of Windows are you using? Are you using Windows' built-in wireless configuration tool, or a Linksys tool? Is SSID broadcast enabled or disabled on the router/AP you are connected to?
XP SP1 had issues with SSID broadcast being disabled. This seems to have been fixed for the most part with SP2, however it is also a factor of the type of router, the type of wireless NIC, and the firmware versions of both of those devices. For example the newest version of the Linksys firmware for the 802.11b routers and one of my Compaq PCMCIA cards do not agree. I used to be able to keep SSID broadcast disbled, but when I upgraded the firmware in the router the Compaq could no longer connect unless I set SSID broadcast to enabled.
