I am attempting to make a wireless network on two diffetent nic cards. I want Card #1 to connect to the internet via wired connection to a Linksys WRT54GSV4 wireless/wired router. The reason for the wireless router is to connect my laptop (wireless and server wired to router) to the internet without having to run extra wires. Card #2 is connected to a Outdoor wireless access point. I am in Iraq and trying to make my server accessable to other people and need to cover a large area (wired connection is not possiable due to enviornmental factors). This is the link to the manual for the wireless access point .http://www.seniorcomputers.com /PDF/AP202616-USER-MANUAL.pdf Now I have my Nic cards configured as follows. Card 1 is 192.168.1.1 and acts as a DHCP giving other computers their IP. Card #2 is Static IP 10.10.1.100 and the wireless access point is 10.10.1.254 it is a DHCP giving all other wireless clients their IP. The Wireless access point is configured as a gateway right now. On my server through IPCONFIG i can see and ping both the wireless access point and the router. Also i can see the internet. But when i go outside to the access point and log on to it with my laptop i can connect to the access point but i can not see my server or any of the shared files on it.
OK now problem flow in order and how I got to this point. Connected wireless access point to my linksys router, I could see the router and access point but you could use my internet. (internet is extremely exp over here)
Solution 1 I used the 2nd nic card to run the LAN(outdoor wireless access point off of) so that people could not surf my internet. Problem 1 IP's were conflicting could see my wireless access point and not the router. Solution 2 Change IP on wireless access point to 10.10.1.254 from 192.168.1.254 and set a static IP on NIC #2 with no gate way. This somehow created another problem which brings up to the current state. I can see both the access point and the router but anyone who logs on to the outdoor access point can not see the server or shared files but you can use remote desktop to talk to the server which dose us no good because people need to pull files off of the server.ANY help would be greatly appreciated. I am open to all suggestions. I do have additional networking equipment if needed. I realize that i am probably missing something very simple but At this point i am so frustruated i cant see it.
