Ok here's the deal. I just got DSL in the house last week. I set it up temporarily into my laptop. Just hardwired. Yesterday I got a router. (Netgear WGT624)I hooked up a desktop expecting to use my laptop as it has a built in card. Its a Compaq Presario R3000 (don't think that matters cuz my wife has the same laptop) Anyways, when I first boot up I can get internet for about 5 minutes, the signal stays at excellent and it shows i'm connected but the browser says it can't find the page i'm looking for. I use IE and Firefox and both act the same. In the mean time my wife is surfing the net and we have two desktops in the house that work perfectly fine too. I've tried disabling my firewall and nothing changes. Can somene tell me what I need to do??? Thanks in advance.

I had this same problem on another netgear unit. Upgrading the firmware for the router fixed my issue. Give that a shot.

Ok. I tried doing this but it says i am up to date. Any thing else? Did you have it happening on several computers or just one?

Yes, two computers were being knocked off the wireless network at the exact same time.

I had to download the update manually from Netgear's website and upload the update to the router; so if there's an automatic update function don't use that. Download the file and update it manually.

I am having the same problem. I'm using Linksys Wireless G Broadband Router SRX 400 with Time Warner Cable using Motorola SURFboard Cable Modem SB5120. It was working fine for about a year. Now, even the wired connected PC are being dropped after being online for about 5 minutes. I've powered cycled everything in the order Cable Modem, Router, PC. Still, I am only able to stay connected to the internet for about 5 minutes. When I connect my PC directly to the Cable Modem, it works fine. Did updating firmware on the router fixed anyone's problem?

A follow up. I believe what happened is that my cable company upgrade the firmware on the cable modem which introduced some incompatibility with my router. After I upgrade to the latest firmware on my router, everything works again. Also, I was with Adelphia Cable which was bought by Time Warner Cable and finally I was switched automatically to Time Warner Cable internet access. I don't know if that has any impact but it seemed very coincidental.
