Comment:

I have been using a USB belkin wireless adaptor (F5D7050)
without incident since about september of last year on my
computer.

After reinstalling XP on a new hard drive in the past
couple of weeks after my old hard disk died, I'm now
running into a little difficulty.

Now installing the device itself is tricky, but the folowing
method worked previously (September):
- Stop wireless zero configuration from running (Control
panel, admin tools, services)
- Install software and driver using provided Belkin CD
o Plug in USB Wireless adaptor when install requests
- Complete installation
- Unplug wireless adaptor
- Restart Wireless zero configuration
- Uninstall provided belkin software
- Restart
- Plug in wireless adaptor
o Install drivers only

So. I followed this setup again, however when I installed
the drivers, i received an error "The Device cannot start
(Code 10)" which appeared to be due to a usb hub
(although the device was plugged directly into my
computer). So. I changed USB ports, and now the adaptor
works (initially).

Now, I have the following problem - the Wireless adaptor
seems to just, well, turn itself off after about 2-3 minutes,
for absolutely no reason as far as I can tell (all my other
USB devices work fine).

So, does anyone have any solutions.

At the moment, all I can think of is to re-install XP, again,
but I really dont want to do this at the moment, since I
dont particularly have the time again!

Thanks in advance,

Robert

Here's a wild guess:
Control Panel, administrator tools, computer management, hardware resources, IRQs. Look for IRQ confilcts.

After spending 2 hours on the phone with Belkin Technical Support and multiple uninstall/reinstall of driver, I finally gave-up (having the error 10 code with this piece of sh*t after re-installing Windows XP), I finally gave-up. I think I'll buy another brand name.

Life's a bitch, and then you give-up on Windows.
