When I try to connect to the internet I get the message that my wireless connection is disconnected. I cannot locate the on/off switch. Help me please.

I guess your Dell is pretty old- For Dell Inspiron 600M use the key combination FN & F2 to access the wireless switch. Does it work?

I'm not trying to be a smart-alec, but, do you have an owners manual? There is a tremendous amount of valuable information in the printed material that came with your PC including the arrangement and function of the switches, buttons, etc.
If not, try the control panel, device manager to determine the status of your wireless interface.

Guys "wireless connection is disconnected" is not a message you get if the wireless AP is off. You get this message when you did not authenicate to a wireless connection.

You get unable to display page if the ap is off.
