My wife's computer is 5 feet from my main computer's wireless router. Her computer gets a very good signal but it's only a measly 2 mgbs.
I have another computer that is downstairs, quite far away from both of the other computers. It gets 54 mgbs.
My son was using his laptop in front of my wife's computer and he was getting 54 mgbs. Obviously, there's a problem. What can I do to get her computer up to speed (no pun intended? :-)

It's a 802.11g card. The router and card are the Linkys 54g.

You can check the wireless card properties in my network places. Open this and then click on view connections. right click on the wireless connection and select properties. In wireless properties you will see the adapter listed and and a configure button. Select configure and advanced tab and see if you have a rate property and what it is configured for. Most will probably default to best rate or auto.
