I just bought a belkin router and a belking wireless pci card. I installed the router software on my first PC (running XP), I'm using a wired connection for it, and it works great. I then installed the software for the network card on my other PC (running ME) setup seemed to go fine, told me to shutdown, install card and start computer, I did. Computer starts, says "windows has found new hardware and is locating the software for it"...says restart for changes to take affect, seems to restart fine, but after about a minute I get an error "Explorer has caused and error in <unknown>, Explorer will now close" I click close the taskbar flashes, this continues with the error message every 45 seconds or so. If I try to run any programs I get the same error with the program name in the place of "Explorer".

What I've done: I've ran scandisk, no errors.
Removed the PCI card, still had the problem, removed card software still had the problem, ran AV found spyware in Sun Java install folder, removed, problem was gone. Re-installed card software and upon restart the problem returned, ran memtest, no errors, I'm now running scandisk in DOS which takes forever, and I have a feeling my problem will still be there.

What should I try?

You may have to contact the customer support to resolve the error. But, to get rid of the current problems, try the following.

Put the card back in and restart the computer. Remove the software & drivers (if you still have them installed) Then, go into device manager and "remove" the device. Shut down the computer, remove the card, and restart it. This will hopefully remove all traces of the device and whatever is causing the problem.

Then again, there is always system restore if you have it enabled. Oh, you could always check the manufacturer's website to see if there is more current software/drivers available. I never use the drivers supplied with a device until I've checked for more current drivers.
