i am running an internet network, there are around 300 users which r running through my server which has a bandwidth management software controlling bandwidth of each user. all the 300 users are connected through switches by cat5 cables individually, i want to get rid of providing net through cable as everyday i have to face cutting of wires by someone in my area, i want to setup a wireless network i want to tell u that all the 300 users are within 1KM of radius from my office, i enquired n found that wireless routers can work instead of switches but the problem is every customer of mine is allotted different package n speed whereas in a wireless router i can define only 1 IP address which can be used by many customers but what if i want to define separate speed n package of all customers running through a single wireless router, has anyone got any idea how can i setup my network so that i can run my bandwidth management software too for each customer. pls help

First and foremost, all cables except the patch cables should be pulled through the walls....preferably through conduit. This eliminates issue of cut wires. Also, you could tell users that they get to pay for replacements if they cut them since it's them being careless.

Second, Wireless isn't capable of the speeds of a wired LAN. Then there are interferance and connectivity issues. Most important are the security issues. For a LAN one should always go with wired.

You should then have them interconnected (if they need to be) via VPN's.

As for bandwidth management, the smart choice would be to use equipment (routers or switches) that are QoS capable at each location. Barring that, you would have to have a server running the bandwidth limiting software at each site.

As for all connections through one wireless router and setting different speeds, it's not going to happen with SOHO level equipment.
