Hi, we have several old access points at work that are set up with WEP? What is the lastest and greatest one we should be at? I'm aware of the WPA2 and our AP does not have that capability but is WPA2 the best one to use at work? What brand do you recommend? Or is there other AP products that does something different?

Cisco seems to be out of reach for the hackers as far as I know. All others could be in theory be attacked.
Wired solutions do better. Do you NEED wireless?
I read it wrong and answer it wrong too. So get off my case you peanut.

Hi Jefro- We need the wireless connection for our mobile thin client production computers... Isn't WPA2 the lastest encryption technology? I was looking at this one from Symbol Technology.. How does it compared to a Cisco one? http://www.motorola.com/business/v/...
Thanks...

WEP takes about 5 minutes to hack (if the hacker isn't all that interested). WPA or WPA2 are the prefered standards but some older wifi devices can't use these.

If you get a wpa router then you have to go to all your client pcs and make sure the installed wireless clients support WPA , don't know if the built in windows clinets support wpa2 or not .

WPA2 is the best encryption standard so far. In order to use WPA2, your access point and wireless adapter on computer need to support it. Most of the access points and wireless adapters on the market support WPA2, you just need to check the features..

If your budget is low, and you're forced to stick with what equipment you have, go here and get a WEP key. Your best bet would be to upgrade to something that does support WPA2.
