I have 2 computers in my home that I would like to network together (I have a broadband connection. One is a desktop and the other one is a laptop. I am interested in the wireless 4-port router made by Linksys. It is based on 802.11b technology @ 11Mbps. Is this fast enough for my needs? I use the laptop for getting on the Internet and downloading music files. Should I wait for the 802.11g routers to come out this year?

.11g will be expensive... .11a is about twice as much as current .11b implementations. why the need for all that bandwidth on the LAN? u will never need that much bandwidth on ur LAN side, and keep in mind that your bottleneck will always be your 1.5MB (if your lucky) cable or DSL WAN connection. i wouldn't waste the money on .11g or even .11b unless you plan on getting a T3 or fiber run out to your house.

I bought and installed the 11.b today and had road runner installed, and it is really fast, I am more than happy with it. But I am having a noise conflict with Compaq's speakers and the wireless pc card.
