Wireless router connect to a switch

HI guys, I was told that it is possible to plug in a switch TO a router. When I connection my connection from Cable modem to Wireless router , then Switch, it worked But its slower. When I plug in by Cable modem to Switch then wireless router, the other 2 pcs with ethernet cable work fine but the wireless router Couldnt get to work. but how come it the other computer that is using wireless connection detected an Excellent signal but no connection activity.

"detected an Excellent signal but no connection activity. " Connected to wireless doesn't mean connected to the internet since the router didn't get a ip address from the modem via the switch.
Summary: The Uplink port is to connect to a hub, if your location is close to the router, and less than 4 pcs. You don't need a hub. Just directly connect to the router. Any port of the router will work on ...
