Ok, i dunno if this is possible but I have a wireless connection to the internet and i want to hook up a device from my nic. would i be able to use the connection from my wireless through to my nic to the device? Is that what a bridge does? would appreciate it if someone could help me out here. TIA

Yes you can do that but odds are you'll need a crossover cable. Also point the gateway of your nic towards your public ip and the gateway of your other device to your nic.
