Hi,
I am trying to setup wireless network between two Toshiba 6100 laptops with built in Toshiba Wireless PCI Cards running windows 2000.

I just want a Adhoc network between the two laptops and setup everything accordingly. Same
Network name=Adhoc,
IP's=192.168.0.1/2,
Peer-to-Peer setup,
Channel=10
NoEncryption (I want it to work before setting any security)

But for the life of me I can't understand why they can't see each other. Just sit there doing nothing.

Am I missing some setting, overlooked, I would appreciate any help.

Regards

Check to make sure the 2 laptops are configured with the same workgroup name and SSID. From my experience, the SSID and workgroup name have to be the same for the machines to see each other in Network Neighborhood. Again, this is from my experience, I cannot verify that this is the rule. I was always under the impression that the SSID and workgroup names work independently of each other.

In Device Manager verify that the properties for the network cards are set for Ad-Hoc mode and not Infrastructure mode (default).
