Hi,
Im quite new to wireless networking, so please bare with me :os
Can anyone recommend a reliable PCMCIA card for connecting wirelessly at public access points ?
Also, when you go to a public access point, is the connection quite easy to set up ? What kinda range do you have to be in to get a good reliable connection ?
I assume you need to set up a firewall as well, is this the only security measure needed to be taken when using wireless public access points ?
Thanks very very much if anyone can offer some help :o)

This is the one I use:
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=33-147-101&depa=0
Only $15 and it works great. In my view they are all about the same, Gigabit, NetGear, Linksys etc.. I just went for the cheapest and haven't had any problems it was easy to setup, I use it on a laptop with Windows 98 and on one with Windows 2000.
There should not be any setup to access a public access point. Just make sure the wireless card is setup DHCP.
By the way Newegg is one of the best sellers on the internet.
