Guys, I have a question that I think will stomp all your minds...I don't know how I can do this, I've seen it done, now I need to know how. I need to send an internet signal over a fairly large distance, somewhere around 1KM radious square as the crow flies, or maybe a little bit less. But I don't know the exact way to do this, I need it to be wireless, through a network card that I can give to my clients, I have found a few routers that give good distance with a 2.4Ghz band, but all the buildings around here are cement with metal rebars in them, so I don't think those will work. I don't know how good the distance on bluetooth technology is maybe this will work. Or I have heard about sending it through radio frequency, but have not checked into this yet, like a radio tower. Do you guys have any ideas on this..Could you clue me in on this tech. Thanks for the help.

You have to use antennas (Yagi's for point to point), and wireless bridges (Bridges allow one wireless AP to connect to another wireless AP). But here's the catch...you have to have LOS (line of site). Anything less than LOS and you have little to no chance of it working.
As for Bluetooth, you'd be going in the wrong direction...Bluetooth is short range. Very short range.
D

I hate to ask this of you but could you take a few min. and send me an email to explain this in detail to me, especially LOS, I understand the rest, just LOS has me kind of stumped. Also where would be the best place to look for good priced bridges and also could I use, there's a radio station two buildings down from me, could I use their antenna like renting it from them, is this possible and would it save me some money? If not who's a good distribuitor of this equipment?
I am planning on using either, depending on the business I have, everyone in this area is used to paying high prices for Fiber 256Kbps and 512Kbps, but big money, so I was going to offer of course cheaper but same speads, I was either thinking one DS-3 which I think might be too much for starters, or a 3MB line? What's your oppinion?
Thanks for the help.

Sorry something I forgot to ask...What's Yagi?
Also if I do it this way, I will be able to direct wireless to any PC right? Through a wireless network card right? Also sorry one more thing, what is the distance I can get with this?
