Hello,
I have a Linksys Wireless Router at home which broadcasts at 2.4 GHz. I was shopping for a cordless phone the other day and noticed that most of them use 2.4 GHz as well. Will there be any conflict using these two devices in my home? Thanks,
Alex.

there shouldn't be any problem, just because it says that it broadcasts at 2.4 Ghz doesn't mean that it is always at that frequency. most of the cordless phones are able to block other interference as well, so there really should not be a problem using both in your home

I disagree with Andy. I have a wireless network and a cordless 2.4GHz phone, and when the phone is in operation the network reponse stops. It does interfere. So do microwaves which work also work at 2.4 GHz. I also install the stuff and sale the stuff professionally and any Wireless LAN engineer will tell you it does affect operation.
The good news is that it only interferes when the phone is active in a cordless call, and if it's in the same general vicinity of where the wireless signal is being transmitted.

In the research I have done to getting a wireless network I do believe it would cause a problem. Not always, but enough that you would be frustrated with it. It may cause distorted signals, loss of connection or interference. All bad when transmitting data over a network between 2 PC's. I would say get the 5 gigahertz wireless but you already have the 2.4 and the 5 is still too pricey.

In your remark re 5 ghz wireless, I wonder if you are writing about router wireless or phone wireless. If 5ghz is, as you wrote, "still too pricey" (although I do not know what you mean by that), if I want to install wireless router in my home, would it make more sense (cents!) to step down to less advanced cordless phone technology to avoid the risk of interference? I am anticipating my network being accessible between me and my neighbor who lives above me.
